Campaigns

Tony Askham has been involved in high profile campaigns for some 30 years in particular he was a key member of the campaign that led to the legalisation of Sunday shopping in England and Wales. He campaigned on shopping hours issues in the Channel Islands and advised other campaigns in Europe. He was a director of Deregulate when it sought to complete the deregulation of Sunday shopping and was responsible for all of the administration and delivery of that campaign and its financing. He was also one of the initial campaigners on the issue of IR 35 taxation helping to form the Professional Contractors Group.

Nicholas Bevan is recognised as a leading campaigner for access to justice for civil litigants.  He is an authority on issues ranging from reforming the compensatory regime for victims of uninsured drivers both in the UK and the EU, on reforming

compensatory awards generally and on the creation of an Employers Liability Insurance Bureau to deal with historical industrial disease claims against long defunct employers.

Most recently he submitted two formal submissions to Lord Justice Jackson’s review of Civil Litigation Costs and was quoted from within that report. Nicholas and Tony have been involved in devising and delivering a campaign in the South West to further the rights of those suffering from disease caused by exposure to asbestos.
