Cancer Compensation Claims
Contact Our Team
The news that you, or a loved one, has been diagnosed with cancer can be one of the hardest things to hear. In such difficult circumstances, you expect treatment of a high standard – there are enough other things to worry about.
Medical mistakes can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences, and nowhere more so than in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Where you have suffered harm, or further harm, as a result of negligent cancer treatment, including misdiagnosis and failure to diagnose the condition, we may be able to assist in securing compensation.
WE ACTED FOR BEN'S WIFE WHO ASKED US TO BRING A CLAIM AND WE SUCCESSFULLY PROVED THAT BEN'S GP HAD BEEN NEGLIGENT
Ben had tests for prostate cancer in 2003. Unfortunately his GP did not investigate the results of his tests, and so he was never referred for treatment. When he developed further symptoms in 2009 and was re-referred to hospital, the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and was incurable.
His wife had suffered a serious injury to her spine years before and relied on Ben for care. In addition to the grief and devastation that came from the loss of her husband she struggled to manage at home.
How we helped
She asked us to bring a claim and we successfully proved that the GP had been negligent. We were able to negotiate damages of £475,000. This included money to meet the costs of paying for the care and assistance she now requires and what Ben would otherwise have done for her at home.

Cancer misdiagnosis claims are often brought for the following reasons:
- Missed or delayed diagnosis, leading to the condition becoming worse or terminal
- Failure to provide adequate treatment promptly after diagnosis
- Poorly performed cancer-removal surgery resulting in further damage
- Inadequate follow-up care, including errors in radiotherapy and chemotherapy
Cancer treatment claims can involve complex issues about who is at fault for your injuries and what could have been done to prevent them, and so it is important that you instruct a specialist clinical negligence solicitor with experience in this area. You may also be able to claim if you have lost a family member after negligent treatment.
