Enable Law colleagues have stepped up their efforts to support the UK Sepsis Trust.
Lawyers and staff across the law firm have been making strides to raise money for the national charity and boost sepsis awareness.
They teamed up to support the charity’s ‘Step Up To Sepsis’ fundraising challenge by clocking up as many steps as possible during Sepsis Awareness Month.
The UK Sepsis Trust-led campaign, which ran throughout September, aims to raise awareness of sepsis, highlight its impact and empower people to act quickly and with confidence.
It is a cause that is close to the hearts of the Enable Law fundraisers because the leading national law firm is a legal partner of the UK Sepsis Trust.
The campaign has inspired healthy competition among Enable Law colleagues, who have been encouraged by the charity to create teams to compete for the highest step count.
Eight teams across Enable Law’s seven offices counted some eight million steps – the equivalent of approximately 4,000 miles – as part of their mission to make a positive difference to the UK Sepsis Trust, which the law firm has supported since shortly after the charity was founded in 2012.
Enable Law lawyer Caroline Frean, a managing associate in the firm’s medical negligence team, said: “Enable Law is proud to be a UK Sepsis Trust partner, and our team has gone the extra mile, literally, by walking and running whenever we can and counting every step for the Trust. Every pound raised will help the Trust continue its life-saving work.”
The UK Sepsis Trust is committed to supporting those affected by sepsis, and to raising awareness of its warning signs among healthcare professionals and the public so that sepsis can be spotted and treated early.
Enable Law’s specialist lawyers have in-depth experience of how sepsis affects people and understand how damaging it can be. They have helped many clients affected by the condition access vital support and secure compensation to re-build their lives.
In recent years, Enable Law secured a £1.5 million award for a man who underwent a below knee amputation after delays by podiatrists in referring him to hospital led to him developing sepsis.
Compensation is awarded in successful cases to pay for needs such as care, home adaptations, prosthetics and therapies.
Enable Law also specialises in education law and represents people affected by sepsis who cannot manage their own affairs.
Enable Law partner Stewart Young added: “We fully understand from working with our clients that sepsis can be devastating and can kill within hours, which is why raising awareness of the warning signs is so important.
“We have a track record of helping people whose lives have been turned upside down by sepsis; we appreciate the many complex challenges they face, and we have the expertise and experience to achieve positive outcomes.”
Enable Law’s show of support has been welcomed by the UK Sepsis Trust.
UK Sepsis Trust Corporate Partnerships Coordinator Iain Blackwood-Hobbs said: “We are immensely grateful for the Enable Law team’s ongoing partnership and their dedication to our ‘Step Up’ challenge this Sepsis Awareness Month.
“Every step taken raised makes a huge difference, helping us raise awareness, educate healthcare professionals, and support those who have been affected by this devastating condition. This isn’t just a fundraising challenge – it’s helping us to save lives.”
