Patricia Wass, a consultant in our Court of Protection team, has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award in the 2021 STEP Private Client Awards.
With a background in private client law, and over 35 years’ experience specialising in the field, Patricia has handled complex cases for the Court of Protection relating to those suffering from birth or acquired brain injury or by reason of the degenerative illnesses of old age. She has also been recognised as a “leader in her field” by Chambers UK Legal Directory.
The prestigious STEP Awards recognise and celebrate excellence among private client solicitors, lawyers, accountants, barristers, bankers, trust managers and financial advisors. The final decision on winners was made by judges and an independent panel of renowned practitioners.
On Patricia’s award, a spokesperson from the judges panel said: “The judges felt that Patricia’s dedication and contribution to the wider profession and to the private client industry was astonishing. Acknowledged by her peers as a leader in her field, she is recognised for her expertise, passion and commitment to mental capacity law and practice, her contribution to the profession in general, and STEP in particular. She has made an outstanding contribution to the reputation of lawyers as a force for good in society, making her a worthy winner of this year’s Lifetime Achievement award.”
When asked about receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Patricia commented: “When I first established the Court of Protection team at Enable Law, I would never have dreamed that it would culminate in a lifetime achievement award from an organisation I’ve been so proud to work with during my 37-year career. From the West of England STEP committee to my two terms as Worldwide Chair of STEP, it’s been so rewarding to support their mission of inspiring confidence in families who are planning their assets across generations.”
The STEP Awards took place virtually on 23rd September.
