From October half term, the SEND Tribunal will be piloting the listing of more SEND Tribunal hearings during the school holiday periods where possible.
The six-month pilot will cover October half term, Christmas, February half term and Easter. Its aim is to support the timely progression of appeals, reduce waiting times, and help ensure children, young people and their families have their cases heard at the earliest appropriate opportunity.
Some existing hearings may be brought forward and relisted during a school holiday period, with parties notified in the usual way.
This pilot may mean that additional planning is required, particularly where specialist witnesses are involved. Overall, the pilot aims to help The Tribunal assess the impact of holiday listings while balancing practical considerations for all parties.
