Enable Law is proud to have supported the development and implementation of Tailored Online Problem Solving UK (TOPS-UK), an innovative programme designed to improve access to neuropsychological support for young people experiencing executive functioning challenges following a brain injury or other neurological condition.

Led by Professor Anna Adlam, Professor Jenny Limond and Professor Shari Wade, the project has adapted an evidence-based intervention into a flexible, UK-focused online programme that can be tailored to the individual needs of young people and their families.

One of the most significant developments has been the shift from focusing solely on acquired brain injury to supporting executive functioning challenges across a wider range of neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions. The programme now includes a bespoke Challenge Identification Wheel, more than 20 optional learning modules, accessibility enhancements, and an AI-supported problem-solving tool.

The pilot is also helping to demonstrate how trained Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) can deliver the programme remotely, creating a scalable model that could support wider adoption across the UK. As of August 2026, 17 parents/carers and 14 young people had joined the study, with recruitment continuing through to October 2026.

The project team has shared learning nationally and internationally through conferences, workshops and academic publications, helping to raise awareness of innovative approaches to supporting young people with executive functioning difficulties.

At Enable Law we have extensive experience in supporting children and young people living with brain injury or other neurological conditions access the best possible support, therapy and education to reach their full potential. We look forward to following the continued progress of TOPS-UK and the difference it will make to young people and families across the UK.
