“I guide Solicitor clients through the legal costs process. I provide comprehensive advice and maximise costs recovery.”

I am a Senior Associate Solicitor in Enable Law’s Southampton Office.

I have over 9 years’ experience in legal costs and deal with both receiving party and paying party work. I draft detailed bills of costs, costs budgets, Points of Dispute and Replies. I deal with the whole costs process, to include negotiations and advocacy at County Courts and in the Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO).

I deal with a wide variety of cases, ranging from clinical negligence and personal injury to solicitor/own client, probate, property and commercial litigation.

I am adept at dealing with complex technical disputes, retainer issues (to include private retainers, CFA’s, Deeds of Assignments and Agency Agreements) and fixed costs queries.

Career Highlights

  • I worked on the landmark Court of Appeal case of Budana v The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust & Anor [2017] EWCA Civ 1980 which dealt with the assignment of a Conditional Fee Agreement.
  • Successfully argued that a Defendant’s Points of Dispute were defective at detailed assessment. As a result, I recovered 100% of the Claimant’s bill of costs, beat a Part 36 Offer and was awarded additional benefits.
  • Was the successful party in an interlocutory hearing dealing with a technical point regarding written notice on the portal.
  • Regularly deal with high value and/or complex claims.
