Mental Capacity

Senior Associate

I am a Senior Associate in the Mental Capacity team. I specialise in providing advice to clients, their families, and deputies relating to the management of Property and Financial affairs under the remit of the Court of Protection. A particular focus of my work is ensuring that strategies and solutions put in place are tailored to the individual’s circumstances and in consideration of their wishes and feelings. I am collaborative in my approach and work with parents and other professionals including case managers, therapists, architects, investment managers, and litigators.

My role is extremely varied and I particularly enjoy being able to provide practical advice applicable to the real-world. I also find it very rewarding to be able to facilitate clients achieving goals whether that be to have a house that is suitable for their needs, go on holiday, or gain access to equipment.

My experience includes drafting complex court applications, overseeing house purchases and adaptations, dealing with queries regarding statutory care funding and welfare benefits, investing funds on behalf of clients, expert witness statements on deputyship costs, and advising on the introduction of care teams both agency and directly employed.

I am a member of the Professional Deputies Forum and regularly attend seminars and conferences on issues relating to our clients.

Outside of work I enjoy getting out into the Hampshire countryside, spending time with family and friends, and cake decorating.
