I am a Court of Protection Executive in the Mental Capacity team based in the firm’s Southampton office.
My role is to support the management of the property and financial affairs of both adults and children who lack the mental capacity to be able to do so themselves. My background includes working with clients that have suffered catastrophic injuries as a result of a personal injury or clinical negligence and have received substantial damages as a result, plus elderly clients with Alzheimer’s/Dementia who have been a victim of financial abuse and clients that have fluctuating capacity.
I have undertaken this type of work since 2016 and have extensive experience in the day-to-day management of professional deputyships, personal injury trusts and lasting powers of attorney; making one off applications to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a deputy, authority to purchase/sell property, authority to call in a security bond, authority to appoint a new trustee and litigation authority as well as making one off applications on behalf of lay clients where a professional is not required.
Prior to joining Enable Law, I supported both a number of individually appointed deputies and worked on behalf of a trust corporation with this experience split across a national and regional firm.
I am a member of the Professional Deputies Forum and have previously sat on the Associate Committee, helping to develop the next generation of Court of Protection practitioners and to promote the profession as a whole.
My spare time is limited due to having a young family, so when I am not being a taxi driver for my daughter I go and watch Crystal Palace FC matches and try to run at least once a week.
