Ex-Newcastle youth coach George Ormond faces sex charges

Football PitchFollowing on from the previous reports of sexual abuse within professional football clubs Northumbria Police have reported that a former Newcastle United youth coach has been charged with 29 sexual offences.

Mr Ormond is now 61 years of age and is due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on 9 June.

Mr Ormond is the first person to be charged as part of Operation Tide, which was set up to investigate the allegations of child sex abuse at football clubs in the North East.
